**What You Will Be Doing**

Clinical Lead in Paediatric Diabetes
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Department at Peninsula Health.
A position of Clinical Lead in Paediatric diabetes, based at Frankston Hospital (Peninsula Health). The position would be suited to a paediatric endocrinologist with strong interest in diabetes working with an MDT.
The position is predominantly for provision of ambulatory care of children with diabetes. However the role is expanding to include supervision of in-patient care for either newly diagnosed patients or patients requiring stabilisation.
The position would be for 2 sessions each week. The multi-disciplinary clinic is currently held every Thursday morning. The position would include a mixed role of clinical, database management, research and education of clinical staff.
- disciplinary team. Within the diabetic ambulatory care setting there is an established allied health team, including dietitian, social worker, psychologist and diabetic nurse educators. A nursing educator role across both in and outpatient’s services to strengthen the continuity of care for many families has been established.
The successful applicant would be expected to develop a model of care for the paediatric diabetes service at Frankston to encompass new innovations within diabetes care as well as to develop a close working relationship with the acute paediatric service. The model of care will be developed in consultation with the Clinical director of paediatrics. The position has no after hours / on call component.

**What You Need**

We anticipate you will have:
Essential Criteria
- Medical Practitioner Registered in Australia.
- FRACP ( Paediatrics)
- Relevant experience in management of diabetes in the paediatric/ adolescent population.
- Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice in diabetes, including new technologies
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and work effectively across both in-patient and ambulatory services.
- Education
- able to provide education and up-skill all staff across a range of disciplines.
- Maintain the paediatric diabetic database that enables quality review across services
- Patient safety and quality review knowledge and skills

Desirable Criteria
- Supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff and other health workers.
- Completion of APLS, or similar
- Management skills
- understanding of service provision, budgets and community requirement
- Ability to work as an effective member of an inter disciplinary team Competencies including:
