**The Role**
As the Principal Safety Advisor within this business, you will be a natural change agent and compassionately guide people and deliver outcomes in line with business objectives.

You will partner with the senior leadership team to identify, develop, and implement safety initiatives and compliance activities that enhance safety capability, capacity and performance. You will be an approachable guide for the operations team to provide expertise for best safety practice and support the liaisons with relevant regulators.

Critical deliverables include:

- Build long lasting relationships through your approachability, coaching and provision of reliable and practical safety solutions
- Design, develop, implement and review Safety plans, processes and practices
- Implement and monitor enterprise and operational safety initiatives, driving continuous improvement
- Design, develop, and implement local safety governance and controls in line with the enterprise’s safety management system
- Design, develop, implement, and review the annual first line of defence assurance plan, and lead first line of defence assurance activities
- Facilitate risk assessment workshops and build safety risk management capability within the operational teams 8. Support leaders in emergency response situation
- Identify and share key business challenges and opportunities with other Safety team members to collaboratively design and deliver enterprise solutions
- Supporting the delivery of investigations and learning interventions led by leaders, as required
- Support independent investigations, as required

**Your experience**
We are looking for a warm, compassionate person that can coach and empower the wider team to support the transition into a new business.

You will have:

- Qualification/certifications in safety
- Demonstrated on-site safety management experience in heavy industry environment
- Formal training (or equivalent experience) in risk management techniques and methods
- Demonstrated line leadership experience or experience in safety coaching
- Current drivers licence
- Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods and hazardous substances (preferred)

**Specific Skills**:

- Fluency across safety legislations and regulations
- Expertise in safety risk management
- Experience in conducting audits and inspections
- Passion in coaching and supporting workers implement safe systems of work
- Stakeholder management skills
- Strong written and verbal skills, including writing and presenting processes, reports, and other collateral
