**About the Opportunity**

As the Leading Hand - Irrigation within the City Operations Program, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Adelaide’s Park Lands, gardens, streetscapes, and biodiversity sites. This hands-on leadership role involves planning and scheduling work, operating specialised horticultural equipment, and coordinating irrigation systems for events. You’ll be instrumental in delivering high-quality horticultural outcomes that align with City of Adelaide standards and contribute to the ongoing beautification and sustainability of our city spaces.

In this role, you’ll lead a small team, supporting their development through training, supervision, and on-the-job guidance. Your focus will be on ensuring safe work practices, maintaining compliance with WHS legislation, and driving continuous improvement in turf quality and irrigation systems. You’ll also contribute to team morale and productivity, offering support and advice across teams while helping to shape a strong and inclusive workplace culture.

With a strong customer service orientation, you’ll liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues and fostering collaboration. Your ability to identify innovative approaches, streamline processes, and manage resources effectively will help support the organisation’s strategic goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your leadership skills while playing a hands-on role in enhancing the city’s natural and public spaces.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will have:

- A formal qualification in Amenity Horticulture (Cert III or higher) and comprehensive knowledge in Irrigation and associated disciplines.
- Cold Water Plumbers Ticket.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Amenity/Horticultural/Irrigation construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience in managing/providing leadership to Horticultural work teams.
- Self-motivated, results oriented and able to initiate actions to ensure objectives are achieved.
