**The Opportunity**:
Do you love working outdoors? We have opportunities to join our Hardwood Plantation Division as a Forestry Worker in Narooma or Batemans Bay which will see you performing a variety of field-based tasks in the great outdoors. You will also be part of the organization’s fire readiness strategy.

**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Forestry Operator to join the team.
This role will see you being responsible for conducting road/trail maintenance and construction work for harvesting, plantation management, recreation and community access, fire access, hazard reduction burning and firefighting using a variety of trucks and heavy plant. As well as participating in other forest management activities.
**Other Key responsibilities include**:

- Operating a variety of plant including truck (HR & HC), backhoe, grader, dozer, fire tanker and other relevant equipment.
- Undertaking daily maintenance of the plant to gain maximum efficiency and guard against breakdowns.
- Monitoring safety of staff, contractors and others in all operations.
- Monitoring compliance with operational plans and other relevant legislation, licences and codes.
- Participate in hazard reduction burning and firefighting.

**We would love you to have**:

- Qualified and skilled in efficient operation of plant, in particular HR & HC truck, Backhoe, Grader, CAT 1 Fire Tanker and other equipment (particularly chainsaw).
- Experience in working safely in a high-risk environment.
- Exceptional organisational skills with ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards and deadlines.
- Experience in forest roading operations including contractor supervision, with the ability to understand and implement operational plans, codes and technical guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet with a high level of independence.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake fire and fuel management duties, firefighting and extensive travel (mainly driving), work extended hours, and to maintain sufficient fitness for the job (e.g. able to efficiently conduct reconnaissance / investigation through difficult terrain and dense vegetation) and a current driver’s licence.
