About the Role
- Define, lead, and mature the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Cyber Security Operations program, including the development and execution of a long-term strategic plan and roadmap, in alignment with the organisation’s overall cyber security strategy and technology roadmap.
- Produce and disseminate contextualised, relevant and timely strategic, operational and tactical (technical) cyber operations reports to internal stakeholders.
- You will lead the RBA Cyber Security Operations Team, including (not limited to) its Detect, Hunt and Response functions; as well as providing critical analysis which supports cyber risk management activities, insider threat, posture (vulnerability) management and the RBA's offensive security capability (purple team).
- Work closely with IT Security Services teams, Infrastructure Operations teams, and stakeholders throughout the Bank during cyber security incident response events, providing expert technical guidance, management, and analysis throughout all stages of a cyber security incident.
- Support staff training initiatives, mentoring team members to foster a culture of growth and accountability, and closely monitor their progress to bring out their best potential.
- Represent the RBA at various domestic and international security and cyber threat intelligence forums, conferences and events, remotely or in person, and contribute to establishing the RBA as a key thought leader and contributor within the space.
- Manage the uplift, development and maintenance of the Bank’s Cyber Security Incident Management process.
- Support cross-functional responsibilities and other duties as strategically directed by the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

About You
- At least 3 years' experience in a dedicated cyber security role (with a focus on operations and management), and a background in tactical, operational and strategic decision making.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an adjacent (cyber security or information technology) discipline will be highly regarded.
- Cyber security incident response experience, including the ability to lead and coordinate response efforts during cyber security incidents.
- Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks (i.e. Essential Eight, CIS, NIST, ISO 27001) and experience participating in relevant audits.
- A broad understanding of general cyber security and information technology topics, principles, and regulations relevant to a modern enterprise environment.
- Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience managing key stakeholder relationships, and an ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience using technologies including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), Vulnerability Scanners, Attack Surface Management (ASM), and Endpoint/Extended Detection and Response (XDR).
- Strong understanding of IT security protocols, cryptography, authentication, and authorisation.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Security Blue Team Level 2.
- Security Blue Team Certified Security Operations Manager (CSOM).
- Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM).
