Federal Government Agency is seeking a talented and creative media professional to undertake media and communication activities to maintain and grow the organisations reputation and respond to reactive enquiries from journalists.

This is an opportunity to advance your career and to build on your experience in the media and communications industry, working with internal and externals stakeholders including the Ministers' office, to support the media approach for high-profile and interesting programs and initiatives.

**Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities**:

- Identify media opportunities and develop media engagement strategies
- Coordinate responses to media enquiries
- Provide strategic advice to Senior Leadership team to enhance relationship with media
- Coordinate with external stakeholders to develop media activities and products
- Develop content, including media releases, news stories and talking points
- Media monitoring and production of media analysis reports.
- Coordinating fact checking and clearance of communications products.
- Participating in an after-hours on-call roster as required.

**Your experience may come from a background in journalism or media engagement, or you may come from an APS Communications team, but important is an understanding of media and the news landscape.**

**Skills and Experience required**:

- A degree in communications or related discipline and/or minimum 2 years experience as a journalist or delivering in communications teams
- Strong written communication skills, and the ability to tailor communication style and language according to the audience
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Collaborative mindset and ability to support and contribute to a strong team culture
- Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance
