Clinical Education Program

The Clinical Education Program supports the hospital to achieve its strategic directions by the provision of frameworks for the professional development of health professionals. The Clinical Education Program supports the growth and maintenance of the future nursing and midwifery workforce through coordination of the nursing and midwifery pre-registration, graduate, Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) and specialty post-graduate programs. The Clinical Education Program further collaborates with other health professional groups to promote best practice clinical learning environments (BPCLE) across the organization. The Clinical Education Program promotes pathways for engagement and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Professional Students and works with services to promote culturally safe environments for learning.

As a team of professionals the Clinical Education Program are early adopters, innovators and change leaders.

**Your contribution**

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of education frameworks to support midwifery advanced practice (e.g. insertion of Cooks catheter, Prostin administration, aminiotomy, fetal scalp electrode insertion (FSE), waterbirth, speculum examination
- Provide formal fetal surveillance education programs (FSEP) and insitu fetal surveillance learning and one-to-one teaching and remedial follow-up if required
- Develop, deliver and evaluate The Women’s Transition to Tertiary Practice Midwifery program (including refresher midwives)
- Provide direct clinical support in the BIrth Centre

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Registered Midwife
- Recent and extensive midwifery experience across the midwifery continuum (Preferably in a tertiary centre)
- Previous education or leadership experience (at the minimum of a Grade 4 Educator or Associate Unit Manager (AUM) or equivalent)
- RANZCOG FSEP (or equivalent) Level 3 Practitioner score (completed within the last 2 years)
- Current perineal repair accredited and competency/recency of practice maintained
- Demonstrated competency and recency of practice with advanced practice midwifery skills (e.g. Insertion of Cooks catheter, Prostin administration, amniotomy
- Demonstrated passion for collaborative inter-professional practice

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
