**About the Opportunity**

With the expected population growth over the next 20-years, now is an exciting time to be involved in the planning of Moreton Bay Region’s transition to a future city. As our Principal Transport Modeller, you will be central to that transition, and by working within the Integrated Transport Planning and Design department, you will be directly involved in the planning, managing and design of the transport network.

This will include assisting with needs assessment and options testing/analysis to inform concept design and project justification for a wide range of activities including corridor and network planning and specific road link and intersection upgrades.

This role will involve employing your proven knowledge and experience to utilise a variety of macroscopic and mesoscopic transport models (namely VISUM) and the preparation of reports based on your capability of interrogation and interpretation of required data, including transport planning principles and modelling inputs, analysis and reporting of outputs.

In addition, the role of Principal also requires provision of technical oversight and direction of a two-person team responsible for providing specialist technical advice on the development of transport planning and design solutions.

This role will also see you be responsible for:

- model development, calibration, validation and demand forecasting
- technical reviews and compliance with industry best practice
- internal and external stakeholder liaison/input
- building and maintaining strong relationships through projects

**About you**

You will have proven industry experience in transport planning analysis and modelling, hold a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering ,or equivalent. Whilst technically savvy you will be known for your specialist capabilities in technology and have a high level of proficiency in several of the major modelling software packages, such as VISUM, VISSIM, and EMME. Knowledge of Python is also desirable.

We are looking for someone that has strong communication skills that can communicate outcomes to a range of team members, whilst building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors. You will also enjoy being a part of a positive and collaborative team environment in order to achieve quality outcomes for our community.

In addition, you will also have.
- Comprehensive experience in the development and testing of solutions using complex transport models
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary best practice integrated transport design principles, standards and legislation
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting complex technical reports and proposals
