Anderson's Creek Primary School was established in 1977 and is located in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne within the City of Manningham. It is situated near the historical sites of Victoria's first gold mine in a community with a long history of traditional arts and crafts. Our motto 'Learning with the Community' represents the focus of the school philosophy. It is reflected in the partnership between students, staff, parents and the community. The school sees itself as an integral part of the community and participates in all local celebrations.
Anderson's Creek Primary School enjoys expansive grounds with a range of playing surfaces, well-equipped adventure playgrounds and numerous shaded areas. The buildings consist of three large hexagons. One houses five open classrooms with a library in the central hub. A second has six classrooms around a central shared workspace. The third boasts a state of the art 440 seat Performing Arts Centre. A tennis court, large sports stadium with a separate and dedicated Outside School Hours Care room are at the entrance to the school. The remainder of the buildings are relocatable which the school has positioned and landscaped to not only blend in with the environment but encourage cooperative teaching. The school¿s most recent addition is an outdoor classroom learning environment.

Teachers and parents are committed to the concept of an integrated curriculum and working cooperatively as the basis of the learning experience. Risk taking, problem solving, cooperative work practices and multi-skilling are all nurtured by the programs offered. The school community believes in the concept of children as responsible people and issues of discipline are negotiated cooperatively with the children.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Experience supporting the general wellbeing of students and the school community
- Experience in providing services to improve student engagement and connectedness
- Ability to foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning community
- Experience in delivering wellbeing services within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to operate within the school community and with external providers, including providing students with referrals to specialist services when required
- Ability to support schools and teachers to identify and develop educational, social and emotional programs to support students
**Role**:
Attendance - 13hrs per week.
The roles and responsibilities of a student wellbeing officer could include:
- supporting student attendance, engagement and mental health
- supporting students in difficult or challenging situations such during times of grief
- providing students with referrals to specialist services when required
- providing pastoral care and guidance to students about values and ethical matters
- supporting physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and wellbeing of all students
- supporting an environment of cooperation and respecting a diversity of cultures and traditions
**Responsibilities**:
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of evidence-based practice approaches and techniques which support the wellbeing and engagement of those associated with our learning for students, parents/carers, staff and external agencies. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Meet regularly with school staff to update and consult on student information and wellbeing programs
- Provide information to parents on appropriate services and supports and assist families with referrals to external agencies
- Provide advice to staff on any wellbeing concerns within their classroom
- Act as liaison between school and home environment as required
- Attend professional development relevant to enhancing wellbeing support
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships and networks with local agencies
- Maintain accurate student files and case notes
- Other relevant duties as directed by the Principal or delegate
- Maintain and support the development of wellbeing programs and initiatives within the school in partnership with teaching staff
- Work directly with students (1:1 and small group settings) on wellbeing matters
- Regularly liaise with the Principal on wellbeing matters
- Communicate effectively with and support the school community with regard to proactive wellbeing support
**Who May Apply**:
Student Wellbeing Officers must hold a Certificate IV equivalent or higher qualification that includes competencies in:
- mental health and making appropriate referrals, and
- providing pastoral care or working with youth
