**About the Assignment**

Chandler Macleod, in collaboration with Santos, is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Adviser to join the team located in Adelaide, SA. The Environmental Adviser provides specialist environmental and when required workplace occupational safety and health support to assist operations in achieving a strong HSE culture and meeting regulatory requirements.

**Tasks include**:

- Monitor activities to ensure operations are carried out in accordance with safety and environmental approvals requirements and the Santos Management System (SMS).
- Lead/participate in environmental auditing and reporting for operated facilities and activities. This includes but is not limited to environmental compliance auditing and auditing of contractors at tender, pre-mobilisation and on site.
- Provide support to the Production HSE Team leader and Production Manager, in conjunction with the site Environmental and HSE Advisers, to ensure that improvement measures are implemented if HSE performance is found to be non-compliant.
- Assist with the development of and/or organisation of appropriate safety training and hazard/risk reduction programs as required.
- Monitor incident investigations and inspections/audits to satisfactory closure through tracking close out reports.
- Participate in ENVID, and other risk assessment workshops
- Monitor incident database and quality of incident/investigation reports and bring to the attention of the relevant Manager/Superintendent/Engineer any identified non-conformances.
- Participate in/ lead investigations of significant incidents on operating facilities as required.
- Write, review and assist in revising HSE specific plans and procedures as appropriate.
- Carry out any other appropriate duties as directed by HSE Team Lead, Senior Safety Adviser or Senior HSE Adviser commensurate with the role.
- Provide assistance and guidance to HSE adviser compliance in the preparation and submission of annual compliance reports as indicated in any statutory environmental permits, ministerial statements etc.
- Where required, conduct technical reviews of 3rd party environmental monitoring reports for inclusion into annual compliance reports.
- Assist, as directed, in the reporting of notifiable environmental incidents or dangerous occurrences to Legislative bodies / regulators.
- Where required, fill the role of contract owner and project manager for 3rd party consultants who conduct environmental monitoring activities at Santos facilities.
- Liaise with operations and brownfield project teams to ensure that the relevant environmental approvals are in place for any non-routine activities.
- Monitor and assist with chemical approvals for all operational facilities - in accordance with the Operations Chemical Selection Evaluation and Approval Procedure.

**This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.**

**Location for this assignment is Adelaide, SA, working full-time office hours with some requirement for travel.**

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications environment science or related fields
- Tertiary qualifications in HSE preferred
- Extensive hydrocarbon industry experience.
- Experience working in Operations, in onshore, offshore and remote areas.
- Working experience in HSE management systems, Safety Case, Environment Plan, WA HSE legislation
- Conversant with Commonwealth, State and Territory HSE Legislation.
- Have good knowledge of quality and safety management principles e.g. IMO-ISM, SA4801 or OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
- Causal Analysis Investigation Training i.e. TapRoot®
- Internal / External Auditor training
- Report writing
- TBOSIET, CA-EBS, MISC, CSTP, OGUK
- Experience with electronic maintenance management and incident reporting systems (e.g. SAP and Enablon)
