About the role

AGL Loy Yang comprises of approximately 5,500 ha of land. The land comprises the operational area required for coal winning and overburden management, infrastructure for power generation and the surrounding land used for agricultural / plantation purposes.

The Land Management and Production Support Officer role will coordinate current land use, maintenance and leasing activities for Loy Yang's non-operational land areas in accordance with legislative requirements and best practice land management practices.

The role requires a combination of time spent in the field to oversee firsthand the compliance of land users and contractors with AGL’s requirements, as well as time in the office performing business and administrative functions. Reporting to the Manager Business and Production Support, this role will provide assistance to other Mine Production functions from time to time to ensure the safe and effective delivery of department objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Ensuring that systems are developed and implemented for land management that provide continued compliance with AGL’s land management obligations including areas of safety, environmental and mining license compliance.
- Providing technical advice and act as the primary point of contact for land dealings related to current usage of non-operational land areas.
- Coordinating all land maintenance activities including contractor management, works planning and execution in line with budget.
- Managing, preparing and reviewing property dealings documentation including leases, land management plans, fire preparedness plans, and other associated processes as required.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery outcomes are consistently achieved.

About You
- Extensive practical experience and knowledge in land management activities.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and implementation of land management plans including controls for weed, erosion, vermin management and fire risk.
- Well-developed commercial and contractor management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical document writing and a high level of computer literacy.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and build rapport across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to utilise computerised maintenance management systems to plan and execute works.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work autonomously and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to interpret relevant legislation and government requirements.
- Sound understanding of Occupational Health and safety procedures and practice.
