Fostering Support Worker

**Highlighting the importance of this role for our team**:
Working as a Support Worker will see you encourage children and young people with high complex needs to achieve the best outcomes. You will have the opportunity to provide ongoing monitoring of placements with foster carers, including the transition of children and young people entering or exiting from placements.

You will utilise previous skills and demonstrated experience in the provision of care services to children, young people and their families, to deliver:

- Collaborate to develop, implement and conduct the recruitment for the fostering service including conducting initial interviews, conducting pre-service training and enquiries; monitor and assess carer’s ongoing suitability.
- Plan and action placements for children and young people, schedule and facilitate initial and ongoing care plan meetings.
- Provide ongoing monitoring of placements with foster carers including the transition of children and young people entering or exiting from placements.
- Provide support to foster carers including developing support plans, education and training needs, matters of concern, individual placements and awareness of intervention services.
- Work sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children, young people, families and communities to provide culturally inclusive services and achieve sustainable outcomes within a culturally safe environment; assist to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in care; work collaboratively with communities to keep children and families safe and connected to culture.
- Perform position responsibilities in accordance with the Sanctuary Model of Care framework.

You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them. You will have the ability to easily establish and build rapport with people, in addition to being a naturally caring and positive individual.

This is a role working with people and as such, you should really thrive on those daily interactions. With excellent communication skills, you are capable of liaising comfortably with a range of stakeholders.

**You must be available to work weekends and before and after school hours.**

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

- Certificate III in Protective Care, Youth or Community Services or equivalent and/or related experience with a willingness to participate in further training.
- Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of the _Child Protection Act 1999_.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Experience working with children who display complex to extreme behaviours;
- Youth work Experience in the residential care system
- Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks.
