**About The Role**:
Bendigo Kangan Institute are seeking a passionate **Student Counsellor **to join our Student Services team in Bendigo. Reporting to the Team Leader Student Support, you will provide counselling services to staff and students. Your will employ your communication and stakeholder management skills when supporting a variety of counselling, welfare, emergency relief and advisory services.

As a Student Counsellor, you will be performing a highly collaborative role that would require you to liaise internally (students, staff, other departments) and externally (welfare professionals, medical care, family etc). You will be required to stay abreast of the best practice methodologies and legal rulings to deliver a arrange of services such as counselling, and advisory services.

**We are excited about you because you have**:

- Tertiary qualification and experience in counselling, social work, psychology or community services with eligibility for membership in relevant regulatory bodies:

- Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
- Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
- Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA)
- Or, lesser formal qualification with extensive experience/management expertise or a combination of relevant experience and/or education and training
- Short-term, solution-focused and client-centred counselling experience, preferably in an education setting
- Demonstrated experience in co-counselling, facilitating proactive wellbeing and engagement workshops, liaising with education departments, and engaging and supporting students
- Strong understanding and familiarity with the Working with Children Act 2005, the Child Wellbeing and Safety Amendment Act 2016 and the Child Safe Standards
- Experience working with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, Indigenous backgrounds and individuals who identify in the LGBTIQA+ community
