This 12 month traineeship based in **Sunshine and Werribee** provides support to theYouth Justice (North West Metropolitan Area) team.

**Youth Employment Scheme (YES)**

The YES is a Victorian State Government funded initiative designed to increase the workforce participation of young people, particularly those facing significant barriers to employment. These placements provide trainees with meaningful work experience and formal training to give a solid foundation for a sustainable career. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply

**Eligibility Criteria**
- Be aged between 15 and 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
- Not currently engaged in tertiary education
- Not have attained a university level qualification (excluding 1-4 certificates)

**Position Overview**

Youth Justice promotes the personal development of young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by the court, to contribute to the reduction of crime through community based supervision and support services.

**Key accountabilities**
- Support the Programs Coordinator in the delivery of Youth Offending Programs, including supervising community work placements
- Provide transport for young people to and from appointments with youth justice and support services. _**As this includes travel from the Sunshine office to the Werribee office with a company vehicle, the trainee must have a drivers licence.**_
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of case notes and internal reports to support allocated youth justice case managers
- Complete general administrative functions such as answering telephones, data processing and filling
- Assist and provide support to staff on various tasks and projects
- Create and maintain various records and any correspondence - both manual and electronic
- General work processing and data entry
- Liaise with people at all levels, both within and outside of the Department
- Other duties as required
- Complete TAFE studies associated with the traineeship
