**Role**:
At North Geelong Secondary College, the Leading Teacher, Mathematics/Numeracy is an outstanding classroom teacher and a key member of the leadership and management team within the curriculum program. The Leading Teacher is forward looking and visionary in leading and managing the details of this position by demonstrating and modelling outstanding skills, knowledge and performance.

As the leader of a team or teams with a high degree of independence within the college, the Leading Teacher is responsible and accountable to the College's Strategic Plan in relation to Mathematics/Numeracy curriculum area. The Leading Teacher has a college focus and an appreciation of the culture of the college and its community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide instructional leadership for the team of teachers in the Mathematics Domain. This includes building teacher capacity to design and deliver differentiated teaching and learning programs within effective and engaging learning environments
- Lead the Mathematics teaching team in the design, documentation and evaluation of appropriate Mathematics (Years 7 to 12) or whole school Numeracy courses Curriculum learning outcomes and the VCE within College structures
- Ensure courses of study are designed to be engaging, rigorous and consistent with 21st century teaching practice and the NGSC instructional framework
- Work closely with the EAL Coordinator and support the EAL/New Arrivals Numeracy programs
- Lead the administration of semester exams in Mathematics, NAPLAN and other Numeracy formative and summative assessment. Analyse available data, including NAPLAN, VCE results, whole school Numeracy programs, as well as PAT Mathematics results & Teacher judgements and develop processes using data analysis tools for identifying student learning differences
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve student Numeracy across the curriculum
- Lead the development of the use of learning ICT appropriate to the Mathematics/Numeracy area and work with the Science Curriculum Leader to develop and document the College STEM and science programs
- Ensure consistent assessment and reporting strategies deployed in the Mathematics Domain are consistent with the College Assessment and Reporting Policy
- Evaluate the Mathematics curriculum and update the Curriculum Action Plan for each following year which includes professional development priorities and is reflective of the College Strategic Plan
- Support the SEAL and Scholarship programs
- Represent the Mathematics Domain at Curriculum Committee meetings and contribute to whole school curriculum development as a member of the Committee.
