**About Monash Chemical Pathology**

Monash Chemical Pathology is arguably the broadest discipline in the field of Pathology involving study of the biochemical basis of disease with particular emphasis on metabolic and endocrine diseases as well as nutrition and toxicology. The Department of Chemical Pathology is based at Monash Medical Centre in Clayton. Approximately 2,000 samples per day are received from a full range of general and specialist services covering medical and surgical programs, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics and neonatal services. Within Monash Health, there are five laboratories and a large network of Point Of Care devices for chemical pathology testing.

**About the Role**

The successful applicant will report to the Unit Head of Chemical Pathology, Chemical Pathologists and trained in the following:

- Understand and perform analytical laboratory techniques
- Assist in validation of laboratory results, evaluation of new tests and review protocols and policies
- Clinical liaison: provide advice to clinicians on selection and interpretation of laboratory tests, liaison regarding critical results, preparation of materials for clinical review meetings
- Performance of dynamic endocrine tests
- Involvement in staff education and in research and development projects

**About You**

**What you need**
- A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) with current registration the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APRHA)
- A current Victorian Working with Children Check Employee (WWCC)
- Previous experience in Chemical Pathology is desirable
