We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Connection Worker to create connection to people, community and local mission expressions. The Community Connection Worker will facilitate connection through a range of programs, activities and the act of being present. In collaboration and partnership with local mission expressions and in line with The Salvation Army’s plan for the Inner City of Sydney the Community Connections Worker will identify and provide local mission expressions with opportunity for evangelism, creation of faith pathways, outreach and improve links to the community

add value to local mission expressions and focusing on meeting community needs.

You will successfully
- Support community members seeking assistance by triaging and referring them through to appropriate internal and external support services and faith engagement opportunities
- Develop, facilitate and participate in programs reflecting The Salvation Army’s values that help foster and create meaningful connections for community members
- Engage and connect with persons coming for assistance and support with the intention of connecting them to the most appropriate service/program, each other and our mission.
- Actively participate in the annual Red Shield Appeal and Christmas Cheer
- Build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery
- Coordinate volunteers by meeting all administration requirements, providing training and support and pastoral care

You will have
- Diploma of Chaplaincy or Pastoral Care (desirable)
- Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent (desirable)
- Experience in the community services sector and The Salvation Army
- Experience in volunteer management
- Experience working with different cultures
- A Facilitator of the PLP Program or willing to obtain this
- Willing to be flexible with work hours and days e.g. Sunday attendance on occasion and flexibility to attend special events that could be on a weekend
- Willing to offer pastoral support and explain the Christian Gospel
- A current and valid Working with Children Check or equivalent
- A current and valid Drivers Licence
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
