What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member - Client Services - Criminal Records.
The Criminal Records team function contributes to keeping Australia safe. It provides the AFP National Police Checking service as well as providing criminal history information across police jurisdictions and other Government agencies.
The AFP is seeking suitably qualified applicants who would like to be considered for the role of Team Member, Criminal Records to submit their interest.
Criminal Records sits within the Business Services Branch and consist of two areas:
- Vetting: Providing National Police Checking Services, generally related to employment, security clearances or for regulatory purposes on a fee for service basis
- Data Integrity and Response: Responsible for the recording and maintenance of court outcomes as well has providing Criminal History Information Government Agencies and Police jurisdictions
The Client Services role in the Criminal Records (Vetting) Team is administrative and process-driven in nature. This role contributes to the efficiency of the business area, by ensuring that requests from members of the public, other government agencies and brokers, are responded to in a timely manner.
This role assists in the investigation of applicant disputes and the resolution process, which often requires liaison between the AFP and other policing jurisdictions. The role involves processing invoices and the creation of shopping carts (purchase orders), as well as the drafting spending proposals.
This position involves will create and maintain relationships with our account holders and undertake end of month financial processes and reporting as well a range of other basic administrative duties.

It is expected that the successful applicants will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position in line with AFP regulatory frameworks and the AFP Code of Conduct.
What will you do?
This role contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of business area outcomes by undertaking a range of operational support and clerical administrative duties, including any or all of the following activities:
Financial - create purchase orders, goods receipting, payment of invoices and draft spending proposals
Dispute resolution - address the applicant’s enquiries regarding the result of their National Police Check. This can require liaising with other Police jurisdictions to seek clarification and updating of results
Maintain client relationships
In performing the above activities you will use a number of systems including:
AFP Systems including the Criminal Records Enquiry and Disclosure Service (CREADS), the National Police Checking Service (NPCS) NPC Applications Processing System (NAPS);
ACIC Systems including the NPCS Supports System (NSS), Nationwide Police Reference System (NPRS);
SAP
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Has ability to understand legislation.
Demonstrated transactional financial acumen.
