What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member - AFP Former Members Team.

As a Team Member in the AFP Former Members team, you will be responsible for establishing a capability within the AFP to create pathways that keep our former members cohort connected with our existing workforce which recognise service, promote wellbeing and improve connectivity.

You will work closely with the AFP Reserve, Former Members and Museum teams and be responsible for creating, maintaining and improving governance framework that support organisational objectives. You will work closely with the Team Leaders to develop and deliver training and information packages to the wider organisation to increase awareness and understanding of AFP Reserve, Former Members and AFP Museum.

To be a successful Team Member you will have strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. The development of effective working relationships will be important to you. You will have strong judgement and comprehensive ability to determine priorities, and contribute to strategic thinking by displaying logic in recommending an option or making a decision. As a problem solver you will have excellent attention to detail and take personal responsibility for achieving the objectives of the team, and model the AFP Values.

Demonstrated leadership experience is an essential requirement for this position.

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Creation, establishment and improvement of governance framework across AFP Reserve, Former Members and AFP Museum Teams;
Management of AFP Reservists placed to support the AFP Museum, Reserve Team, AFP Former Members;
Developing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
Lead the development of policies, strategies, and educational programs;
Prepare high level briefings papers and advice for the Senior Executive;
Event management for AFP Reserve, Former Members and AFP Museum events (including procurement functions);
Undertake and manage project work;
Assist in HR/Recruitment functions and the marketing and attraction for the AFP Reserve Team; and
Undertake other tasks assigned by the Team Leader to support the delivery of outcomes.
Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Contemporary knowledge and/or experience relevant to the role.
Highly developed and influential communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership experience, and team management.
Demonstrated ability in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Governance documents.

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Previous experience working in a recruitment environment will be highly regarded;
Experience using an online recruitment/payroll systems, will be highly regarded;
Possession of, or working towards, a qualification in Human Resources would be highly regarded; and
Experience in procurement/contract management.
