The Royal Australian Navy is the oldest defence service in Australia. Built on the values of service, courage, respect, integrity, and excellence, it was the fifth largest navy in the world post World War Two. In addition to international operations, the Navy also assists with disaster relief and supports peace keeping and humanitarian missions across the world. In Western Australia the Navy is based at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island. HMAS Stirling houses Collins class submarines and ANZAC Class Frigates and provides administrative, training, communications, and logístical support to the personnel and vessels based there.

The work experience program will provide participants with a board insight into the wide range of Navy trades and associated career options with the Royal Australian Navy. Students will be involved in demonstrations, presentations, and practical activities hosted by a range Navy personnel.

Activities may include team building exercises, visits to Navy simulators, an exposure to Navy trades, and demonstrations of vehicles and equipment specific to various units.

Students will have the opportunity to speak with Navy personnel from a range of areas to gain information about their roles, careers, and experiences in Defence.
