Maroochydore State High School is well-resourced with a mixture of extensive gardens and playing fields, well-maintained older buildings and state of the art modern resources, such as the Coastal Cookery Trade Training Centre, Science facilities, Industrial Technology and Design Centre.About the RoleAs the Guidance Officer, you will have responsibility for the following:
- Provide professional expertise, leadership and support with a focus on implementing innovative programs to assist students in achieving positive educational, development and lifelong learning outcomes.
- Collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies including induction activities of new arrivals and provision of advice on specific academic, social and emotional needs.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises student access and engagement in educational programs.
- Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues.
