**About the role**

This position is to work within our Axis Outreach program a specialist youth work service to engage and support young people aged 13-25 to minimise the harms of alcohol and other drug use. The community based outreach program provides services to young people and their families across greater Brisbane.

The overall aim of the program is to promote increased functioning and connection with the community. The program will also offer counselling and support for families or other supports in the young person’s life.

Clarence Street is part of the Mater Young Adult Health Centre is based at Mater Health Campus South Brisbane. Other services at Clarence Street include a residential withdrawal program, an intensive outreach service for young people at risk of involvement with youth justice and a Day Program where young people can drop in and access support in a creative and safe environment. Clarence Street also provides parent psychoeducation and support, to individuals, couples and via groups.

**Salary range: $41.87 - $57.80 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and **access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900** + **access to many staff benefits

**What you’ll be doing**
- Demonstrated clinical experience in providing youth alcohol and other drug interventions to young people
- Ability to provide individual counselling, advocacy and support to young people and families/carers. Ensuring that interventions are consistent with a framework of harm reduction, relapse prevention and strength-based approaches
- Demonstrated capacity to develop, deliver, complex psychosocial assessments, case formulations and interventions
- Demonstrate an understanding of trauma informed care in AOD and have an ability to implement this practice within the clinical setting
- Provide input into the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the multidisciplinary team particularly in the area of intensive outreach
- Experience in delivering programs that are client centred, developmentally appropriate, family sensitive and are culturally sensitive
- Capacity to deliver individual interventions to young people families/carers
- Capacity to successfully manage complex issues and clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries
- Develop and establish collaborative relationships with other stakeholders to enhance service coordination
- Ensure data entry, reporting and all written communication is completed in a timely manner and meets organisational standards
- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development and research activities
- Participate in quality and service improvement activities and provide input into protocols and procedures that improve outcomes for young people and their families/carers

**About you**
- Recent relevant experience in working with young people who are experiencing harms related to substance use.
- A degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). Tertiary qualifications for Social Work from overseas institutions require the applicant to include official notification from AASW that the qualification has been assessed as eligible for membership
- Ability to obtain a criminal history check and Blue Card
- This position requires the incumbent to operate an organisation vehicle and an appropriate licence to operate this vehicle is required (Queensland C Class driver’s licence)
- Completion of First Aid Training (Emergency Care Course, St John’s Ambulance is the minimum requirement)
- This position will require you be part of an on-call roster providing after support for Clarence Street residential services.
