**Introduction**:

Closely affiliated with the University of Sydney and Westmead Hospital, the Institute’s research extends from the laboratory to the patient using the basic tools of molecular and cell biology, genetic epidemiology, imaging technology and clinical research.

Biomedical research in the Institute extends into clinical research programs across a wide range of disciplines which may interface with the many clinical trials in progress at any one time. This “bench to bedside” approach enables greater translation of research from biomedical discovery to the development of new prevention strategies, diagnostics and more effective treatments.

**Description**:
The Junior Cyber Security Analyst will undertake technical cybersecurity activities. Monitor existing systems and work with other ICT team members to implement new technology.

The Junor Cyber Security Analyst should have an understanding and demonstrate knowledge in areas of cloud security (Microsoft Azure), endpoint and network security, threat intelligence, hunting, data loss prevention, vulnerability management, and incident response. The Cyber Security Analyst will be required to support and contribute to the protection of the Institute's systems and data.

The role will report to Chief Information Officer.

Major Responsibilities
- Conducting proactive monitoring, investigations, and mitigation of security incidents within security tools (including Microsoft Defender 365 stack, Azure Arc, and Azure sentinel)
- Facilitate the implementation and ongoing monitoring of Next-Gen Firewalls
- Analysing security event data and identifying suspicious/malicious activity from networks and system logs
- Perform incident response including initial and detailed investigation, as well as containment, eradication, recovery and reporting activities with support from other team members
- Escalate complex incidents, and engage with Subject Matter Experts
- Perform and manage phishing simulations
- Assist ICT team with documention
- Assist Data Centre and Endpoint team with monitoring and patching threats Identify critical data sources required by cyber security monitoring for ingestion and normalisation into the SIEM (Azure Sentinel)
- Implement Microsoft Zero Trust Security Model and relevant technologies

**Skills and Experiences**:
**To be successful in this position you will have the following**:
Experience
- Experience or knowledge in an ICT or cyber security related fields
- Understanding of Microsoft Azure Cyber security zero trust principles and technologies
- Good understanding of Cyber Security standards ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018

Skills/Knowledge
- The ability to work with limited supervision and to quickly gain knowledge of a range of technologies
- Knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and cyber security concepts
- Willingness to attain Fortinet (NSE 1 - 4) and Azure cyber security certificates within first 3 months
