Injury Management Advisor

The Childcare and Kindergarten Association Limited (C&K) is a not-for-profit early childhood provider with more than 350 early childhood education and care (ECEC) centres located across Queensland.

To provide rehabilitation and return to work coordination guidance to key stakeholders for both work related and non-work related employee injuries and illness. Provide general support to the WHS Team to provide workplace health and safety advice and implement and embed safety practices across the business
- Undertake case reviews and case management planning with internal/external providers and management
- Assess employees rehabilitation needs and identify the most appropriate rehabilitation facilities and services in a timely manner
- Establish early return to work goals, objectives and programs/plans in consultation with injured/ill employees, their representatives, treating practitioners and Managers
- Research work injuries, treatment profiles and recovery rates to plan case management strategies and progress return to work objectives with injured employees and their medical rehabilitation providers
- Regularly review, assess and realign rehabilitation goals and strategies in order to progress rehabilitation, return to work and injury management outcomes
- Meet performance and system standards in accordance with legislation and WorkCover performance standards
- Maintain required data systems for injuries, incidents and hazards to ensure appropriate, regular, accurate and reliable reports to Management
- Assist in the formulation of operational guidelines, tools and reports relating to workplace injury management
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of management reporting tools (including the recording of incident and workplace rehabilitation related statistics, and measurement against key performance indicators)
- Promote strategies that contribute to staff well-being and preventative health measures
- Develop, coordinate and deliver C&K’s workplace rehabilitation education / awareness program for employees, supervisors and managers
- Maintain a database for the collection of WHS statistics and reports
- Reconcile workers compensation transactions, wage reimbursements and monthly payments with workers compensation insurer
- Proven experience in managing complex workers compensation and rehabilitation claims in addition to non-work-related injuries
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in interpreting and implementing Acts, Regulations, Policies, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards relevant to WHS and Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation
- Knowledge of current rehabilitation and workers compensation methods and preventative approaches including experience investigating incidents to determine the root cause and implementing systems and procedures.
- Extensive experience developing and negotiating return to work programs in consultation with workers, managers and external parties
- Strong written & oral communication skills together with a strong customer service focus
- Experience assisting with monthly reporting and analysis of Health, Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation data to identify and analyse trends that inform the development of continual improvement strategies and targeted preventative programs
- Knowledge of risk assessments and risk mitigation
- **_Rehabilitation & Return to Work Training and minimum 3 years’ experience. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (or progress towards) or Certificate IV or tertiary qualifications in WHS will be highly regarded._**
