The Laz Simons Creative Cadetship
**_About Laz_**
Laz Simons - and his creative alter ego Lazzle Dazzle - was a true creative: a copywriter, hip hop artist, sometime filmmaker, and generous collaborator. He was a well-loved part of the Ogilvy PR creative team for a short time, but in that short time, he made an impact. He challenged our thinking, championing weird big ideas and impressing all of us with his sense of humour and creative adaptability. In his memory, we created the Laz Simons Creative Cadetship.
**_ About the Cadetship_**
Laz was introduced to the world of commercial creativity via an unconventional pathway, leaping from muso and rapper to copywriting creative. And his work was all the richer for this unique backstory. That's why the Laz Simons Creative Career Cadetship is open to anyone with a unique backstory: an opportunity for creative thinkers, career-changers, new arrivals, second act-ers, what-if-ers - anyone who wants a career in creative communications but hasn't got an advertising or PR degree or undertaken an industry internship.
The placement is a** paid** immersive learning position in the Ogilvy PR Creative Department for 12 weeks, during which you'll gain insight into the craft of commercial creativity. Given it is a cadetship, the salary on offer will be at the graduate/entry level.
You'll work with the creative team - based on Gadigal Country in Sydney - and with account teams right across the Ogilvy ANZ Network, getting exposure to briefs and campaigns from some of the world's biggest and best-loved brands like Atlassian, KFC, AstraZeneca, Xbox, eBay, and Samsung.
You'll have a chance to learn on the job with mentorship from creatives in design, production, writing and creative concept development, and you'll contribute to live briefs and help shape ideas and campaigns.
This placement will take place in our Sydney office. We are open to all work arrangements; part-time, compressed weeks or full-time hours are available. However, 3-5 days per week is preferred to maximise the learning opportunity.
This position is not suitable for students, or those with existing qualifications and/or professional experience in the advertising or communications industries.
