**The Role**
The Migrant Skills Assessments (MSA) branch, operating as Trades Recognition Australia, is the assessing authority for a range of technical and trade occupations in support of the Government’s skilled migration program. The purpose of these assessments is to ensure that an applicant can perform at the required skill level for their nominated occupation when working in Australia.

The IT Systems & Enhancements team in the Skills Assessment and Systems Support section of MSA is responsible for managing IT systems used by the assessing authority.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the IT Project Cost Analyst may include:

- Development of comparable cost estimates of proposed IT investments using robust and accepted methods, with justification. This would involve calculation of costs using deterministic or probabilistic methods, providing rationales for assumptions, sourcing quality data, and breaking down total costs into its components.
- Liaison with finance and technology teams, and suppliers, to gather information required for cost estimation work and to gain approval for final estimates.
- Assist with early market research into possible technology products and partners, and with the preparation of procurement and licensing documents.
- Assessing and advising on financial and contractual risks, and developing mitigation strategies related to procurement activities, contract performance and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
