Canberra, Australia Royal Australian Air Force Full time

If you enjoy high-adrenalin activities and have the qualities and drive to become an inspirational leader, this is your chance to embark on an incredibly rewarding career operating some of the world’s most advanced aviation technology.

**Your role**

The Air Force collectively refers to all officer aircrew and ground-based controller roles as the Officer Aviation family. Mission Aircrew makes up part of this family and refers to the personnel who perform their roles in an air-based environment. It is made up of three roles: Weapon Systems Officer, Maritime Patrol and Response Officer, and Air Mobility Officer.

The Air Force leads the way in developing highly sophisticated weapon and communication systems that deliver competitive advantage in combat situations. In a Mission Aircrew role, these systems are your everyday tools, helping you to make real-time command and control decisions in 3-dimensional environments.

There’s no lack of excitement in this role, as you’re effectively a mission manager; ensuring missions are successfully completed in the most efficient and safest manner.

As you progress and complete your training, you’ll be streamed into one of three areas within the service which will see you:

- Performing surveillance and control duties in both ground and air environments, using radar, communications, tactical data links and electronic support;
- Flying in an F/A-18F Super Hornet Pilot and EA-18G Growler operating state of the art mission and weapon systems; or
- Commanding missions on the P-8A Poseidon aircraft, for a variety of maritime patrol and response purposes.

No matter the specialisation you join, the skills you’ll learn and environments you’ll work within in this rewarding career will be unlike any other.

**Salary**

You'll earn a good salary from day one and be paid to train and learn the skills required to become fully qualified Mission Aircrew. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $78,502 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation, and your salary increases as you progress.

**Location**

You’ll complete training in a variety of locations, depending on the entry method you choose - this may include the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra as well as training in East Sale, Victoria and Williamtown, NSW. Upon completion of your training, you’ll be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, depending on the chosen stream.

**Life in the Air Force**

When you join the Air Force, you’ll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment and extensive benefits - from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there’s the potential for overseas travel.
