The Role

We’re looking for a passionate and technically minded Sustainability Engineer to lead our sustainability initiatives and shape meaningful outcomes for clients. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to high-impact sustainable design projects, while mentoring others and driving industry-leading best practices.

You’ll be responsible for managing project delivery, undertaking technical analyses, and supporting the business through thought leadership and industry involvement. The role will suit someone who thrives on technical problem-solving, clear communication, and working with multidisciplinary teams to create smarter, more sustainable buildings.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver sustainability consulting services for a wide range of building projects
- Oversee preparation of reports including Green Star, WELL, NABERS, NatHERS and Climate Active submissions
- Conduct life-cycle analysis, energy, thermal, daylight and carbon modelling
- Undertake NCC Section J compliance reviews and support project documentation
- Collaborate with industry bodies, councils and accreditation authorities
- Support DMA’s strategic goals by mentoring staff and advancing sustainability practices internally
- Actively engaged in business development and marketing initiatives, with a focus on expanding the ESD team’s capabilities and strengthening the service offering within the industry.

Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Sustainable Design or related discipline
- 2 years’ experience in ESD consulting within Australia
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- Excellent project management and leadership capabilities
- Accreditations in Green Star, NABERS, WELL, Climate Active or similar preferred
- Technical expertise in building physics and sustainable design principles
- Experience with thermal/energy modelling software and sustainability frameworks (e.g. ISC, ESG, GRI)
- Understanding of Australian carbon reporting (e.g. NGER), climate risk and adaptation planning
