**Join our Noarlunga Emergency Department as a Clerical Officer**

The Noarlunga Hospital ED is open 24 hours, seven days a week and 24 hour, providing emergency services to the southern area.

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Emergency Department Clerical Supervisor, this role is responsible for providing a 24 hour a day, seven days a week clerical service. Providing service primarily to the Emergency Department but also to other key areas of the hospital. The key objective is to effectively coordinate the registration of all patients attending the department and arrange admission/ facilitate discharge where necessary. Duties for the role will include:

- Processing patient registrations, admissions and discharges accurately and efficiently,
- Maintaining and updating patient details using SUNRISE,
- Providing a professional clerical support to Emergency Department clinicians,
- Operating the after-hours Switchboard and Emergency code system,
- Liaising with members of the public and external stakeholders including SAPOL and SA Ambulance with general enquiries,
- Maintaining confidentiality on all issues relating to the organisation, the clients, and fellow colleagues.

**About you**:

- Understanding of, and commitment to, patient confidentiality requirements,
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a range of people including patients, their families, ambulance officers, medical and nursing staff and police officers.
- Ability to work in a unique and fast paced environment which can expose you to traumatic and vulnerable situations.
