**About the role**

As the Privacy Officer within the Compliance and Privacy Team in Legal Services, your core responsibility is to ensure privacy compliance, enhance and maintain a culture of privacy and provide expert advice to stakeholders on the strategic initiatives and projects involving privacy legislation and risk mitigation.

In your role you will also:

- Perform day to day management of the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach Scheme process
- Enhance privacy frameworks and develop privacy tools, policies, and procedures
- Lead efforts to raise awareness and capability across the department through privacy training, reporting, and the implementation of privacy-by-design principles.

**About you**

As the new incumbent for this role, you will be driven and committed to upholding the highest standards of privacy compliance. You will demonstrate:

- Strong understanding of privacy legislation and proven experience navigating complex privacy matters
- Strategic and forward-thinking mindset and solution focused when privacy issues arise
- Ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders and influence best practice on privacy

**Key Knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
