Ballarat, Australia City of Ballarat Full time

**Join our team in strengthening the capacity of parents to guide their children’s early learning**:

- **A chance to make a difference in the lives of children and their families through the power of play**:

- **Utilise your existing skills as you learn and grow within a supportive team environment.**

As part of your new role, you will be responsible for assisting in programming and facilitating weekly playgroups and in-home coaching in different locations around Ballarat.

Our supported playgroup facilitators work with eligible families within our community. The Smalltalk program is embedded and delivered within the playgroup settings and in ‘one on one’ in-home coaching sessions. This program is an evidenced-based model designed to teach and guide families with effective yet simple strategies to improve parenting confidence and build parenting capacity. Further training and qualifications in this program will be provided for the successful applicant.

This program is funded by the Department of Family Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

This role offers significant opportunities to collaborate with families and early years' service providers to align play experiences with family expectations and specific child needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold relevant qualifications such as Early Childhood, Family Support, Social Work, or similar, as detailed in the Supported Playgroup Policy and Funding Guidelines.

You will need a current driver’s licence, as this role involves regular local travel.

You will preferably have experience and ability to deliver programs to a diverse demographic, including children and families.

You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with a range of people including children, their families, communities, and other stakeholders involved in the care of the child.

To find out more about the role, please find the position description on the Ballarat City Council careers web page.
