Your Opportunity
**As the Team Leader, Payroll you will be responsible for**:

- Lead the day-to-day operations of the payroll processing team, providing operational advice, support and leadership for the team.
- Provide accurate and timely advice to senior leaders and regional partners of TAFE Queensland on a diverse range of payroll management policies, procedures and practices.

This position reports to the Manager Payroll and People Reporting.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity, unless otherwise determined.
This position offers working from home arrangements and flexible campus locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of the payroll processing team by: o Monitoring workflow and resource allocationo Monitoring workload and staffing levels to ensure effective delivery of pay.o Provide support to employees to ensure optimum service delivery.
- Actively contribute as a member of the payroll leadership team
- Provide a first point of contact service for our Regions on escalated, specialised, sensitive and unique payroll matters.
- Provide award, legislation and policy interpretation, advice and education to payroll team members.
- Partner with the Employee Relations team, and other key stakeholders on the resolution of complex and sensitive payroll matters.
- Develop and maintain positive, client relationships with Regions and other stakeholders to ensure services and advice provided respond to their current needs and future direction.
- Identify the training requirements for corporate and other regional team members as required.
- Represent the organisation in a variety of forums on matters relating to the functional activities.
- Monitor contemporary human resource information management practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, enhancing systems and processes that lead to productivity improvement.
- Research, develop and implement initiatives and operational strategies for effective delivery of payroll management services.
- Lead and undertake development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of programs, systems, policies and procedures to support the portfolio's specific payroll functions and work plan.
- Prepare reports and submissions on substantial payroll matters, to senior executives and business leaders.
- Proactively lead and foster a team culture that emphasises quality customer service, values data accuracy and integrity, and actively seeks continuous improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to the transformation of cultural change through promoting and modelling the TAFE Queensland values of Safety first, Working together, Focusing on our customers, Showing initiative and Taking responsibility.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

- Proven ability to provide expert high-level advice, developing and implementing changes to operational strategies for the delivery of quality payroll services.
- Thorough knowledge of contemporary human resource issues relevant to the operations of the payroll function.
- Proven ability to lead client focused teams on complex payroll management projects.
- Proven high-level communication, consultation and negotiation skills with experience in the development and refinement of effective working relationships with a wide variety of key stakeholders and clients with conflicting priorities.
- Proven strengths in decision making in complex and time pressured environment.
