Western Health is seeking passionate midwives to join ‘Galinjera’ Midwifery Group Practice at Joan Kirner Women's & Children's (JKWC) in a permanent full-time capacity.

Galinjera is a word from the Wemba Wemba language group that means ‘to come together and connect with love’. Galinjera provides maternity care to First Nations women and their families in partnership with the Koori Maternity Service Worker and Aboriginal Health Unit. Our culturally-responsive model of midwifery care involves the provision of continuity of care from a ‘known’ midwife, who has appropriate cultural training, during pregnancy, labour and birth, and during the early parenting period for First Nations women and families. This position involves a large degree of autonomy and has periods of work that are scheduled and unscheduled and requires a commitment to being on-call to provide care.

The Galinjera team is dedicated to the provision of culturally-safe care, honouring First Nations womens’ right to self-determination, working towards equity in maternity outcomes, ensuring First Nations families feel safe navigating the hospital system and the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

Note: Midwives that work in Galinjera can also be credentialed to care for birthing women/people choosing to birth at home

**To be Successful in this Role you**
- Completion of Bachelor of Midwifery qualification or equivalent
- Current registration as Registered Midwife with AHPRA
- Full drivers licence
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety and the issues affecting the health outcomes of First Nations women and families
- Possess excellent evidence-based clinical skills
- Effective time management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
