Since their humble beginnings in 1964, Animal Welfare League (AWL) has grown into one of South Australia’s leading animal welfare organisations. In their mission to connect pets, people and community, they find loving homes for vulnerable animals in need, reunite lost animals with their families and provide temporary shelter through their foster care program. AWL offer education and pet advice to the community to encourage responsible pet ownership, while their social enterprises provide integral support to South Australians looking for pet boarding facilities, pet cremation and memorial services, as well as community thrift shops.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the pivotal role of General Manager Corporate and Commercial Services will provide effective oversight and leadership of the corporate and commercial services division, including all financial management, ICT, procurement, asset management, cremations, boarding, thrift and stakeholder engagement. Leading a multi-faceted team, you will lead financial management operations in order to ensure organisational effectiveness and efficiency. Working closely with the CEO to analyse budgets, reports and trends, you will report the organisation’s financial performance to the board. You will ensure continued development and implementation of a long-term ICT strategy, including overhauling systems, coupled with driving revenue growth through the development of strong corporate and commercial partnerships.
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic leader who is able to demonstrate success in a for-purpose, commercial environment and provide operational/strategic advice throughout a diverse portfolio. You will have a broad understanding of financial management in a commercial setting, including pricing strategies, procurement and risk management. You will have highly developed interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, and the ability to manage a passionate and dedicated team with a diverse portfolio. You will be able to develop and present material on complex matters to a wide range of audiences, along with making informed financial decisions and providing strategic financial guidance to the board and CEO. You will have strong business and commercial acumen including well developed budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills, as well as demonstrated operational and cultural change management capabilities.
