**About the Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title Section**
Our purpose is to ensure all Aboriginal cultural heritage issues and Native Title rights are managed in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner. We empower the business so that the impacts that our activities can have on cultural heritage and Native Title, are fully identified, understood and wherever possible avoided as part of planning and operations.
We provide the business with a positive centre of excellence that delivers a high-level quality of customer service through being a highly agile and functioning Section.
The Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title Section comprises of three teams
- **Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title Management -** Implements and governs the frameworks to ensure Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title requirements and expectations are understood and managed as part of our activities.
- **Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title Strategy - **Provides strategic advice to the business to ensure that Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage expectations and agreement obligations are meet while identifying and influencing mutuality beneficial opportunities for Traditional Owners and Water Corporation.
- **Aboriginal Heritage Resilience & Integration** - Designs methodologies and frameworks for a whole of business approach to Aboriginal Heritage management. Integrates these methodologies into current and future business processes.
**What the role will offer you**:
Join the team in Leederville, a trendy suburb 5 minutes from Perth CBD - and only a 5-minute walk from the nearest train station. You’ll support and develop a cohesive team of people to do their best work.
In this role you will assist the Corporation in achieving sustainable outcomes by providing support to a centre of expertise in Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title advice (including technical/operational, approvals and strategy) and Aboriginal engagement.
**What you’ll do**:
- Project manage a portfolio of projects in close liaison with internal and external stakeholders where Aboriginal heritage and Native Title requirements form parts of the key deliverables
- Obtain required Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title legislative approvals
- Provide current, day to day practical advice to internal stakeholders on Aboriginal processes, policy and statutory obligations
- Inspect project areas with Aboriginal informants and consultants
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings / presentations within Water Corporation project areas
- Develop strategies for projects consistent with Water Corporation policy, procedures and guidelines and relevant State and Commonwealth legislation
- Identify areas of the business that can be changed or modified to cause genuine improvements in process, policy and administration of Indigenous issues for the Corporation in conjunction with the Manager, Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title

- This position relates to Section 50(d) of the West Australian Equal Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position
- Background in either Heritage management, environmental management or project management
- Experience dealing with Aboriginal Heritage or and/or Native Title
- Relevant experience liaising and / or negotiating with key stakeholders about Aboriginal heritage and Native Title issues
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal protoc
