**About the role**

On a daily basis you will:

- Develop and implement strategic plans for the management and development of open spaces in the council area
- Supervise and manage the Open Space team, including setting goals and objectives, providing training and development opportunities, and conducting performance evaluations
- Coordinate and oversee the maintenance and improvement of open spaces, including the implementation of landscaping and horticultural practices, and the planning and construction of new facilities
- Collaborate with other council departments, external stakeholders, and community groups to ensure the effective use and enjoyment of open spaces by the community
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and council policies and procedures
- Prepare and manage budgets for the Open Space team and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively
- Monitor and report on the performance of the Open Space team, including the provision of regular updates to the council and community

**About the person**

We seek a driven person who will bring accountability and a collaborative team approach.

You will have the following:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as parks and recreation management, horticulture, or environmental management
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with experience in the management of open spaces, parks, and recreation facilities
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong financial management skills, with experience in budget preparation and management
- Current valid driver's license.

**What’s on offer**

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from **$149,869.87 - $172,350.35 + Super.**
