
Principal Project Officer

Your responsibilitiesAs the Principal Project Officer, you will: - Facilitate and support the efficient delivery of the pumped hydro projects while ensuring their alignment with government policy and performance objectives. Conduct and coordinate high level research, analysis and review on complex policy and governance issues. Prepare and / or oversee the preparation of complex submissions, briefing notes, legislative drafting instructions, presentations, speeches, publications, reports and correspondence. Manage multiple competing priorities and work either as part of a team, or individually, to deliver workloads on time and which meet customer's expectations. Liaise, consult and negotiate with other State Government and Commonwealth agencies, energy Government-owned corporations, and other key stakeholders. Exercise judgement to effectively manage competing priorities while working collaboratively with colleagues, or individually, to deliver workloads on time and which meet customer's expectations. Represent the department at internal / external meetings and committees, and inter-departmental / inter-jurisdictional working groups. Mentor, coach and train staff in an way that recognises the unique contribution of the individual, encourages personal and team development, and encourages an appropriate work / life balance. Contribute to a positive and effective team culture by participating in work area goal-setting, service improvement and other Divisional activities.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following: - Experience providing governance advice on large scale infrastructure projects (complete program or project basis), with experience in the energy industry highly desirable. Experience in the assessment of technical reports and oversight of developing policy options for government consideration (preferred). Experience in leading projects to inform policy and/or in policy development, which include proactive engagement with industry and other government agencies. Ability to respond in a fast paced environment and deliver results. In addition, this role requires the leadership capabilities of an Individual Contributor as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland booklet.
