**ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote

Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government.

Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations and

economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism,

proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.

ASIS is seeking to place enthusiastic and capable corporate specialists in a number of positions across

the Service including Compliance and Risk Management, and Access, Examination and Release,

Communication, Reports and Coordination. In addition to our current vacancies, successful applicants

through this process will be placed in a merit pool which may be utilised to fill future vacancies over the

next 18 months. You will be asked to indicate your main area of interest/experience noting all suitable

applicants will also be considered for general vacancies across the organisation.

Compliance and Risk Management (Level 5 & 6)

Working within this section you will provide advice on compliance, risk management and

operational policy matters. Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training.

Conduct compliance reviews and audits. Analyse data and use sound judgement to identify risk

and compliance trends.

Access, Examination and Release (Level 5 & 6)

Provide administrative support to the team and work with our partner agencies to coordinate

case management and provide timely advice. The role will develop and enhance existing systems

for the appropriate handing of sensitive information and support ASIS’s contribution to

government approved projects and undertakings of national significance.

Reports Production Officer (Level 5 & 6)

The reports team plays a crucial role in the delivery of impact by ASIS, providing central advice

and production functions for ASIS’s intelligence reporting. This involves supporting the

production of intelligence reports and extensive stakeholder engagement. Your role will

provide advice and support on intelligence reporting matters, and proactively identify

opportunities to maximise Australian Government customers engagement with our reports.

Your role will also identify opportunities and implement changes to build the capability of ASIS

reporting functions and increase the impact of ASIS intelligence reports.

ASIS corporate specialists work as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement

Service.

Dependant on position, duties may include but are not limited to:
Providing general administrative support and assistance;
Providing support and guidance on relevant policy and procedures;
Providing secretariat support to interagency forums;
Maintaining business systems for intelligence production and dissemination;
Developing and maintaining significant stakeholder relationships;
Providing advice on compliance, risk management and operational policy matters to ASIS
headquarters and operational teams;
Assisting in the development and delivery of compliance training;
Conducting compliance reviews and audits;
Contributing to corporate planning and reporting processes;
Coordinating or drafting submissions and briefings, including for Ministers and Cabinet;
Mentoring and supervising junior level staff;
Undertaking project management responsibilities; and

Developing and implementing relevant policies and process documentation.

Contributing to the activities of the section through self-motivation and willingness to assist as
necessary.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Compliance and Risk Management (Level 5 & 6)

The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Experience providing compliance, regulatory or oversight advice; particularly in relation to

intelligence or law-enforcement.

Experience providing risk management or governance advice.

Effective written communication and interpersonal skills.

Effective analytical skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving.

Demonstrated maturity, integrity and ability to manage sensitive matters discreetly.

Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships
- particularly when this involves providing constructive feedback to more senior officers.
