**The Opportunity**

The City of Melton is located on the fringe of Melbourne in the rapidly expanding western corridor. The city is experiencing one of the fastest growth rates in the state and is currently seeking to fill casual position as part of the Food Services team within Community Care.

This position will participate and assist in the day to day operations of the Food Services Kitchen including meal preparation, cooking, sorting, packing, administration, cleaning and general support for the Social Support programs and Meals on Wheels Service.

The position reports directly to the Food Services Supervisor.

This role will be responsible for contributing toward a strong positive culture within the Community Care team and greater Melton City Council

**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain a high quality day to day meal service, including food preparation, re-heating/cooking, packing, accurate labelling and distribution of meals for social support service recipients.
- Support drivers and volunteers when assisting in kitchen duties.
- Maintain a high level of kitchen cleanliness, including equipment and utensils as well as dining room meals area.
- Comply with provisions of Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Food Safety Plan and other relevant legislative requirements.
- Provide high quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Provide basic administrative support including answering calls and enquiries, printing and signing running sheets and entering data.

**About you**

**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Accredited Food Safety qualifications.
- Ability to ensure compliance with provisions of Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Food Safety Plan and other relevant legislative requirements.
- Experience in food preparation within a residential, community or commercial environment.
- Ability to provide recommendations about issues relating to hygiene, food safety, training needs of staff and volunteers working in the kitchen.
- Time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks, plan, organise work and manage requests for action from customers.
- Provision of high quality customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to provide basic administration support including data entry and maintaining administration systems.
- Current valid Victorian drivers’ licence.
