**Our Journey**

Unit 1, is an Adult Inpatient Unit comprised of 25 beds. The successful applicant is expected to provide specialist social work interventions and short term care coordination support to individuals who have presented to Unit 1. The role is a senior position within Unit 1 supporting the advocacy, ongoing care and recovery of consumers in our care. Unit 1 provides contemporary, high-quality, interdisciplinary care and treatment services for consumers experiencing acute mental health conditions.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Grade 2 Social Worker for a permanent ongoing part-time role with shifts across Saturday & Sunday.

**A Day in the Life**

The MDT provides targeted treatment and support to maximise individual recovery and return to a level of functioning that allows consumers to return to their home and family. As a senior member of staff, there will be an expectation to provide input to initiatives and building relationships with external stakeholders such as DHHS- Child Protection, Housing, Centrelink, Family Violence Services, Department of Justice programs & others.

The position provides primary and secondary consultation with the team and other relevant stakeholders regarding the mental health issues of consumers in the service. The position provides supervision to other Social Workers including graduates and students. This position is operationally and clinically accountable to the Unit 1 Nurse Manager and the Consultant Psychiatrist(s), whilst you will be professionally accountable to the Social Work Discipline Senior and/or other delegated profession lead.

**About You**

You can provide discipline specific assessment and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team whilst supporting consumers and their families/carers. The busy role will require someone who is capable of working in a fast paced environment, able to triage competing demands and provide expert therapeutic interventions around complex psychosocial matters including family violence, child protection and sexual assault presentations.

This will also be combined with our daily work involved in supporting collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team within the units and ensuring that the rights of the individual are balanced with the needs of the service system. The Senior Social Worker is expected to provide a range of therapeutic interventions (both individual and group) and support consumers with complex psychosocial needs. This care should be provided meeting the set budgetary and KPI targets in concert with:

- National Standards for Quality Healthcare Services Edition 2
- The Victorian Mental Health & Wellbeing Act 2022

**What You Need**:

- Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Masters of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.
