Grounds and Gardens Supervisor

About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective operational support services by following established standards and procedures. This position will ensure all grounds, buildings, and structures within the boundary of Ipswich Hospital campus including but not limited to the main hospital grounds, P1 and P2 car parks, and the Renal Dialysis Unit are kept in a tidy and hygienic condition.
**Some of the key responsibilities of the role are**:

- Ability to work and communicate effectively without supervision. Build and maintain productive working relationships and be a contributing staff member.
- Ability to prioritise workloads dependant on requirements and weather conditions.
- Actively source, maintain and replenish resources relevant to the duties required.
- Ensure a clean, safe and pleasant grounds environment exists and is maintained, adhering to the principles of Workplace Health and Safety and Infection Control.
- Manage, control and undertake routine grounds and gardens maintanence in a manner consistent with current horticultural practices and standards.
- Perform landscape construction plans, propagate and maintain tree shrubs, garden beds, lawns and containerised plants to enhamce the grounds.
- Perform regular exterior cleaning of buildings and pathways within the facilities and regular waste management procedures including the removal and disposal.

About you
- An understanding and appreciation of the need for client/patient and facility confidentiality and privacy to be always observed.
- Ability to plan, implement and coordinate gardening activities and building maintenance within the day-to-day operations of a healthcare facility.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with without supervision. Build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of hygiene standards, infection control practices, workplace health and safety.
- Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge to operate and use basic gardening machinery, tools and equipment.
- Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of grounds and garden maintenance.
- Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge to always adhere to Manual Handling Guidelines, PPE requirements and Standard Precautions; refer to the Infectious Control Manual and safety operating procedures.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
