**About Us**:
The Public Health Informatician will join the surveillance team within the Health Protection unit, which is part of the broader Population Health team at Hunter New England Local Health District. This collaborative team includes statisticians and an epidemiologist, working together to support public health initiatives. The position is based at the Wallsend Health Facility.

**About the role**:
This exciting new role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with clinical and analytical teams to optimise existing IT systems for collecting, interpreting, and reporting data across clinical public health services. The position also involves updating and designing new IT platforms to improve real-time reporting and streamline workflows. As a Public Health Informatician, you will play a key role in implementing standardised data collection and interpretation processes that align with local and state-wide health protection goals.

The Public Health Informatician will be managed by the Surveillance Team lead. They will have access to the other IT personnel in Population Health and the wider LHD. There is mandatory education for all Health employees but they will also have access to LinkedIn Learning and any other education/conferences will be based on the current skill levels and needs of the organisation.
