**About Us**
The Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) was established on 1 July 2019 to protect and promote the rights of adults with disability and older people, and safeguard them from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community.
Among other things, the ADC’s roles include:
- responding to allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people, including by providing advice, making referrals and conducting investigations
- raising awareness and educating the public about matters relating to abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people
- inquiring into and reporting on systemic issues relating to the protection and promotion of the rights, or the abuse, neglect and exploitation, of adults with disability and older people
- Administering the Official Community Visitor scheme.
**About the Role**
NSW Official Community Visitors (OCVs) are independent statutory appointees of the Minister for Families and Communities, and the Minister for Disability Services. They visit children and young people in residential out-of-home care, and adults living in disability supported accommodation services and assisted boarding houses in NSW. OCVs speak with residents and staff, review records, and raise issues affecting residents, with a view to locally resolving those issues.
The Manager OCV Scheme provides effective and efficient management of the operation of the OCV scheme, and support to OCVs. The role is situated in the ADC’s OCV team, comprising the manager and a project officer.
Key responsibilities of the Manager include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the OCV scheme, including coordinating recruitment, induction and training of Visitors; providing support to Visitors; monitoring the performance of individual Visitors; handling information exchange about sensitive matters between Visitors and appropriate bodies; and handling complaints about Visitors
- Providing leadership, supervision and direction to OCV team staff to ensure key business objectives are met; develop and implement effective quality assurance processes; and develop budget estimates for the OCV scheme and monitor expenditure.
- Coordinate business planning, evaluation and priority setting for the OCV scheme; analyse trends and service quality issues raised by Visitors and take appropriate action/ recommended responses; and ensure effective linkages occur between issues arising through the work of the ADC and service quality issues raised by Visitors.
- Provide timely and expert strategic advice to the Commissioner and Director Operations on the operation of the OCV scheme, trends, significant and/or systemic issues, and recommended actions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with funding, licensing and regulatory agencies and service providers to promote service improvement for, and resolution of issues affecting, people in residential care; coordinate the OCV scheme’s contact with the office of the Minister.
- Manage and coordinate delivery of the annual OCV conference and preparation of the OCV Scheme Annual Report to Parliament within required timeframes and to a high quality standard.
- Participate and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence-based, and to enable the provision of informed and accurate guidance to Visitors.
- Undertake and contribute to stakeholder engagement, education and training activities to further the objectives of the ADC and OCV scheme.
**What we’re looking for**
- Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in a relevant area.
- It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
