**About the Role**

In this role, you will provide essential support for legal proceedings that ensure the integrity and development of the City of Parramatta. You will assist with legal documentation, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and manage case records while working alongside a dedicated legal team focused on community service. By addressing complex regulatory and planning challenges, you will play a key role in advancing our strategic objectives and shaping the future of our city.

**On a daily basis, this role will see you**:

- Drafting court documents, including briefs and affidavits, and assisting in the selection of witnesses.
- Coordinating administrative support for legal proceedings related to regulatory and development matters.
- Assisting solicitors in preparing briefs and attending Court as necessary.
- Conducting legal research on relevant matters as needed.
- Collaborating effectively with our Regulatory Services and City Planning and Design teams as required.
- Preparing accurate and timely reports on legal matters in alignment with established report cycles, including relevant planning panels.
- Managing and maintaining the NSW Online Registry, including access administration for council officers.
- Coordinating with Council staff, Councillors, and the community for legal proceedings, including managing evidence and witness briefing.
- Maintaining detailed records of appeal statuses, outcomes, and legal costs.
- Staying informed about legislative and Court procedural changes and updating relevant systems accordingly.
- Organising legal training for Council staff and promoting continuous improvement in practices.

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in legal studies **_or _**experience in a regulatory or development-related legal environment.
- Demonstrated legal experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships effectively.
- Well-developed administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong time management and technological proficiency, particularly in using Excel.
- A commitment to teamwork and the capability to work independently when required.
- Proven research and analytical skills, with experience in drafting legal documents.
- Knowledge of key legislation including the _Local Government Act 1993 _(NSW) and other relevant Acts.
- A high standard of personal and professional ethics, with a commitment to continuous excellence and improvement.

**What’s on offer**

We are offering an attractive remuneration from $93,948 to $102,109 plus 11.5% superannuation.
