We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Advisor (HSSE Advisor) to be based in our St Leonard’s Sydney Office to service our New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory business centres.
About the role:
You will work in conjunction with and under the leadership of the ANZ HSSE Manager to support the use and implementation of Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) program, and the ANZ HSSE plan within the assigned geography and encompassing projects. The HSSE Advisor - NSW/ACT will execute the day-to-day operations of the HSSE program and plan within the New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territories offices and projects.
Day to day tasks would involve:
- \tAssist the ANZ HSSE Manager in the development of the HSSE plan for offices, operations and projects.
- \tSupport office and operational staff to use and be compliant with Stantec’s HSSE systems, programs, documents and plans whilst considering relevant local legislation.
- \tAssist with project pre-job HSSE planning and hazard assessments.
- \tIn conjunction with project management, conduct project & site visits, field assessments, audits, observations and worksite inspections.
- \tImplement the agreed HSSE initiatives within the assigned region, with the goal of continuous improvement of our HSSE culture.
- \tSupport the execution of the HSSE Incident Management System including supporting investigations, lessons learned sharing and action implementation.
- \tSupport the HSSE aspects of the subcontractor management program, where required.
- \tOrganise agreed events to promote Health and Safety as required.
- \tSupport Business Development and Proposals Teams to ensure adequate HSSE input to proposal activities.
- \tComplete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Management requirements.
Coming in as a Junior to Intermediate HSSE Advisor or a seasoned single industry professional looking for a wider range of exposure, you will bring the below:
- \tRelevant qualification (minimum Tertiary level) in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
- \tIdeally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a similar role.
- \tProfessional membership with a H&S association such as Australian Institute of Health & Safety) or equivalent.
- \tStrong knowledge of Australia’s Workplace/Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
- \tRoot Cause Investigation (ICAM, TapRoot etc) qualification and/or relevant experience.
- \tStrong communications skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organisation abilities, coupled with an ability to work in a team environment.
- \tStrong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and work independently.
- \tAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems easily.
- \tStrong client-service focus with a can-do attitude.
- \tHold a current Drivers License.
- \tFlexibility to travel.
As this role is servicing New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, you will need an element of flexibility to be able to travel to our 11offices. Travel frequency usually consists of 1 visit per month.
