**As a Support Worker with Autism SA, you will build genuine relationships with the people you support by helping them live their best life and achieve their full potential. We aim to put choice and control into the hands of the people we support and strive to match their interests and hobbies with yours to help build true connection. We incorporate evidence-based practices into our supports and strive to ensure our staff are well trained and supported to successfully provide our wide range of individuals and/or groups the best supports and services. You will have the very important task of teaching or coaching vital life skills to enable individuals to live as independently as possible and achieve their individual goals.**
We are seeking 4 dynamic, committed, and experienced permanent part-time team members who can deliver the highest quality, person-centred support to our clients. Above all, we seek team members who strive to develop close-knit relationships with clients and their support team, and who celebrate with them for every milestone reached, big or small.
**The client**
This client is an 11-year-old female living in the Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide who is actively supported 1:1 24/7 in a voluntary out of home care arrangement. She sees her family regularly and enjoys Minecraft, arts and crafts, visiting animal farms, cooking and community activities. She responds well to predictable routines and regular and consistent staff, so staff members who are willing to make long term commitments to her support would be highly regarded.
**What you will need to succeed**:
- Experience in supporting autistic people.
- Experience in working with behaviors of concern
- Experience in supporting people to achieve their goals and outcomes
- Experience supporting clients in their home and the community
- Experience supporting young people to develop independent living skills
- English writing skills sufficient to complete the administration requirements of the role
- Strong ability to support and upskill individuals to gain confidence in their personal care, household, and meal preparation requirements.
- Experience or knowledge of alternative communication methods
**Essential requirements**:
- Minimum of Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services, Disability or Certificate IV in Youth Work OR qualifications or/and relevant industry/personal experience will also be considered
- National Police Clearance within the last 3 months
- NDIS Workers Check and DHS Working with Children Check
- COVID vaccines (including booster)
- SA Drivers License
- Safety Intervention Training (Formerly MAPA)
- Experience working with clients with complex needs
- Experience working with clients who present with challenging behaviours of concern
Opportunity will exist for staff to also work with other people supported by Autism SA, however, the primary focus will be at the allocated program.
