**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this role (referred to internally as HR Specialist) provides general HR support to the HR team including interpreting the Employee Agreement/Handbook and providing advice when required for Australia and New Zealand. This role assists in developing training materials, policy and procedure documents and other written communications, as well as internal and external reporting requirements.
**Duties/Essential Functions**
- Interpret the Employee Agreement/Handbook and/or Company policies and procedures and provide advice to the business
- Keep abreast of industrial relations issues and legislation changes and review Costco procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the review of the Employee Agreement and have the ability to interpret relevant Awards, and work with the HR Managers for EA negotiations and bargaining meetings
- Draft various written communications, including letters, HR Newsletter and position descriptions
- Develop a strong working relationship with AWMs, Admin Managers, Payroll Clerks, Location Managers, Vice Presidents, and Executives
- Develop, implement and run reports on a periodic and as needs basis for internal and external reporting (eg. Government reporting)
- Assist in auditing HR related matters
- HR systems - maintain and look for opportunities within the people systems to drive efficiencies for the business and maintain compliance
- Assist with WHS and workers compensation related matters, including development of policies, procedures and training materials
- Design, create and edit effective training materials such as online and blended learning courses, assessments, videos, job aids, instruction guides, documentation
- Develop, present and facilitate training on HR and WHS topics
- Administration of warehouse general certifications licences and registrations, ensuring Costco is compliant at all times
- Create Excel or Google spreadsheets and analyse data, including period budget reporting
- Assist in organising, travel and accommodation bookings, meetings, training and diary appointments
- Work within a team environment to accomplish departmental goals
- Complete goals/projects according to pre-determined deadlines
- Assist in other areas of the department and company as needed.
**Required qualifications / industry specific skills**
Education/Training:
- Higher School Certificate
- Completed Graduate study in Human Resources, business management or related field
Knowledge/Skills:
- Exposure to HR and/or payroll systems (Employee Central, Preceda and Power BI preferred)
- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Strong MS Excel skills (V-lookups & Pivot tables)
- Approachable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, with strong organisation and problem solving skills
- Strong evaluation and analytical skills
**Other Specific requirements**:
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience
- Ability to travel at short notice
- Current drivers licence
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindication certificate
- **If successful you will be required to undertake role and department specific training within specified timeframes
