Purchasing Officer

Founded in 1884 and one of Australia's largest privately-owned companies, Stuart Alexander & Co imports, markets and distributes premium brands such as Chupa Chups, Lotus Bakery, Fisherman's Friends, Mentos, Tabasco and Evian.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you are a proactive and organised team player. The role will support the team to oversee the supply to our business and purchasing of products whilst liaising with our overseas Brand Partners.

Your main duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Responsible to manage and track all shipments from the moment a purchase order is generated to the delivery into our warehouse facilities.
- Build containers ensuring efficient container utilisation.
- Analyse stock levels and sales v forecast before recommending quantities to be purchased.
- Track lead times and make recommendations to brand and sales team and raise any issues in advance.
- Preparation of documentation for each shipment for the warehouse including destuffing and special instructions for urgent booking of stock and repacking instructions.
- Follow up all documents required for shipping and custom clearance, undertaking accurate analysis of customs entries before approval given and manage IFIP inspection where required.
- Continuous improvement of processes to reduce costs and maximising efficiencies.

Your skills and experience:

- At least 3 years experience in the purchasing of consumer retail products.
- Liaising experience with freight forwarders.
- Day to day understanding of the planning and procedures relating to purchasing both imported and export consumables.
- Strong attention to detail with MS Excel and numeracy.
- Strong communication skills with ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience working with MRP systems is preferable.
