**About the opportunity**
The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) has an exciting opportunity for someone who is driven to serve the communities of NSW, working within a strong team of likeminded professional staff and volunteers to modernise and grow the organisation.
You will utilise your skills and experience to assist the Operational Capability Team deliver a range of projects and initiatives that will greatly enhance the capability of the NSW SES.
Your ability to manage projects, think laterally, solve problems, and engage effectively with stakeholders will be utilised daily, providing you an opportunity to develop and excel in these areas. You will be exposed to and play a key role in building capability development relationships across government agencies and industry at both a state and national level.

- trained in the wide variety of roles they perform.
Each NSW SES Unit is as unique and varied as the community it serves, reflecting the vast mix of risks faced and roles required in the diverse locations and communities across the state. In addition to flood, storm and tsunami, our Service provides specialist capabilities that include general land rescue, vertical rescue, road crash rescue, and alpine and remote area search and rescue. The NSW SES responded to over 64,000 requests for assistance from the community over the 2021-22 year.
The NSW SES has over 10,000 volunteer members, including reserves, and a
full-time equivalent workforce of over 370. There are 262 volunteer Units across the State and our volunteer Units are either local, community-based Units, State-wide or regional Units established to provide specialist capabilities. They are varied and unique in their capabilities, designed to address specific risks to communities of NSW.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be able to interpret complex information and present it in plain English to a diverse range of stakeholders
- Be an exceptional communicator both verbally and written, and have a high attention to detail
- Have strong experience planning and managing projects from conception to completion
- Be able to effectively manage your time, prioritise workload and show initiative
- Have experience in critical analysis and problem solving
- Thorough knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes, and/or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months
- Be willing to contribute to SES operational efforts during times of emergency/disaster by providing support within its State Command Centre or a Zone Incident Control Centre

**Question 1**
The role of the Capability Coordinator includes identifying solutions to whole of agency/government issues through critical analysis and consideration of alternatives in a dynamic environment and then managing projects from conception to completion to implement these solutions. Describe your experience managing complex and dynamic projects, and the role you undertook. What was your approach, and how did you ensure key stakeholders were engaged, properly aligned and onboard? How did this effect outcomes?
**Question 2**
This role will require you to work on several concurrent projects, each with their own unique challenges and timelines. Tell us about a time when you were required to manage multiple and conflicting priorities. How did you manage your time and workload to ensure that priorities were met? What was the outcome/result?
