Kickstart your career in sports turf management as an Apprentice Sports Turf Manager at La Trobe University’s Bundoora Campus Join the Sports Turf Team and work hands-on across top-quality sports grounds, including AFL ovals, soccer pitches, cricket wickets, synthetic surfaces, and A-grade campus lawns. Alongside your fieldwork, you’ll attend weekly classroom sessions to deepen your skills and knowledge, preparing you for a successful career in the industry.

This four-year apprenticeship offers a unique blend of practical experience and structured learning, setting you up for growth and advancement in sports turf management.

Our program offers paid hands-on training under expert mentors, equipping you with valuable skills and a nationally recognised trade qualification. At the end of the program, you'll be prepared to take on roles as a Team Leader or Site Manager, ready to lead with confidence.

**What You'll Learn**:

- Plant care and maintenance
- Plant nutrition programs
- Pest and disease management
- Irrigation systems installation and maintenance
- Specialist transplanting, pruning and mowing operations
- Safety protocols and equipment operation

**Key Tasks**:

- Mowing of grounds with ride on cylinder mowers
- Line marking
- Cricket wicket preparation
- Application of fertilisers
- Brushing of synthetic surfaces
- Seasonal turf renovations
- All other general sports turf maintenance tasks

**About You**:

- No prior experience required
- Valid Drivers' license
- Valid Working With Vulnerable People Check (or be willing to obtain one)
- Valid White Card (or be willing to obtain one)
